"Hopefully this is just the start for her now" - RV
TEONA’s triumph this weekend is a victory well deserved after many close calls this season. Delivering in style to take home the spoils in the Sytner BMW Sunningdale August Stakes (Listed Race).
A deep in quality field lined up in the August Stakes at Windsor this afternoon, but it was Teona’s turn to shine as she made easy work of the 1M 3 ¾ F course, cruising ahead in the last furlong to put the race to bed in an impressive fashion. Breaking well from stall 7, partnered today with Ray Dawson, Teona ran a notably relaxed race settling in third and tracking the leaders in the initial stages. In the home straight the race really developed, Dawson pushed Teona up to the challenge and she quickened up well, moving through to take up the running over one furlong out. Drawing clear along the nearside running rail she was untouched in the closing stages, hitting the line a comfortable 3 ¾ lengths ahead, denying runner up Desert Encounter his continued Windsor record.
Congratulations to the Rabbah team and connections. Patience paid off as the Sea The Stars filly brought back more Black Type glory as well as our 100th winner this season. In the words of Roger, “we hope this is just the start for her now”.
