CHARYN provides the dream start to Royal Ascot, as he storms home in the Queen Anne Stakes to secure his first G1 success, and a first G1 at Royal Ascot for Varian Stable!
The four-year-old son of Dark Angel has done nothing but progress this season, just missing out on G1 accolades in the Lockinge Stakes last time out, but we were delighted to see him claim his G1 today, and do so with impressive authority.
Prominently positioned under Silvestre de Sousa in the stands' side group, Charyn tracked Lockinge winner Audience in the early stages but he proved no match for the handsome grey this time around. 2f from home, Charyn delivered his winning run, sweeping to the front and cruising away for an emphatic victory, 2¼L the better of Docklands back in second.
Roger said "His run in the Lockinge last time was outstanding and you only have to look at him in the paddock to see how physically mature he is–he's a bull of a horse. He's a fine horse, very consistent and seems to be thriving.
"It doesn't get any better, a group 1 at Royal Ascot and in the first race of the meeting. I'm so delighted and for his owner Nurlan Bizakov, who has invested so much in the game and supported me for a number of years. For him, I'm so pleased and he's building a great operation."
Huge congratulations to Mr Nurlan Bizakov.
And we’re off. An incredible performance by CHARYN, who secures victory in The Queen Anne Stakes. Bravo, @SilvDSousa and congratulations to @varianstable! #RoyalAscot pic.twitter.com/18P4pk5E34
