PEROTTO just gets up at the line to clinch victory in the Shergar Cup Mile Handicap!
The five-year-old gelding was popular winner at Sandown last month, and subsequently ran creditably at Goodwood on soft ground, but a return to a sounder surface proved the ticket to a return to winning ways today at Ascot. A canny ride saw Fox Tal sent for home early, leaving plenty for PEROTTO to do within the final furlongs, but he reeled him in for a thrilling finish, just getting up on the line to claim victory by a head. A superb ride from Thore Hammer Hansen, who was a last minute jockey change for Shergar Cup Day.
Congratulations to connections, Halcyon Thoroughbreds!
VERY, VERY CLOSE! 😬
