SOUND ANGELA records a first Listed success, digging deep to land the John Musker Fillies' Stakes at Great Yarmouth.

The five-year-old daughter of Muhaarar has a CV speckled with Black Type, including runner up in last year's Prix Petite Etoile at Deauville and the Gillies Fillies' Stakes at Newcastle on her final two starts last season. She made a pleasing return to the track a few weeks ago at York's Ebor Meeting, coming an eye-catching fifth behind stablemate Zenjabeela in the 1m2½f Fillies' Heritage Handicap. Returning to Listed company for this afternoon's 1m2f Fillies' contest, Sound Angela raced towards the rear of the field but began to make steady headway down the outer as they neared the 2f marker. There were plenty in contention as they entered the final furlong, but Sound Angela dug deep under Silvestre de Sousa to pull away and hold on for a ½L victory.

Sound Angela's win secures a fourth victory in this race for trainer Roger Varian, joining Sheikha Reika, Talmada and Hadaatha on the roll of honour.

Congratulations to owner Mr Yuichi Masuda!

Three-year-old FOX AVATAR made a promising debut recently at Salisbury, and we were delighted to see him build on that promise with a comfortable first victory at Beverley this afternoon. Stepping up to 1m2f, the Frankel gelding asserted his superiority in the closing stages, staying on nicely under Jack Mitchell for a 1L success.

Congratulations to connections, King Power Racing!
